About Phoenix
Phoenix
Phoenix is an Island Gypsy 36 Classic tri-cabin trawler. She was designed by Mark Halverson and built in China in 2001. She was partially commissioned when we bought her, and we finished the commissioning ourselves in the spring of 2002.

We have cruised almost 7,000 nautical miles in Phoenix in the 8 years we have owned her. Our home port is Bend, Oregon, but we moor the boat in Anacortes, Washington.

Most of our cruising has been in Puget Sound, the Washington San Juan Islands, and the coastal waters of British Columbia, including the Canadian Gulf Islands, Desolation Sound, and the Broughton Archipelago.

In 2003 we cruised the Inside Passage to SE Alaska, with stops in Nanaimo, Prince Rupert, Ketchikan and Petersburg. We also stayed at several small marinas and anchored in many harbors. Our turnaround point was Tracy Arm in Alaska, where we saw South Sawyer Glacier and cruisied among awesome floating icebergs.
